Twenty-four models from the open-source Plaits engine by Emilie Gillet, the macro oscillator many know from Eurorack, plus three deep basses of our own. Play it with MIDI, up to eight voices, and let every note snap to your scale.

The display tells you what HARMONICS, TIMBRE and MORPH do for the model you are playing, with a live scope.
Up to eight voices
Play chords from your keyboard or a MIDI clip. One voice turns it into a mono synth with legato and glide. Pitch bend and sustain pedal work.
Real quantizer
Choose a scale and a root: every note snaps to it. Handy for random MIDI and for chords that always fit.
Three basses
BASS M, BASS DETROIT and BASS DUB: warm ladder, punchy pulse and deep round sub, made for techno.

Is Shapes really free?
Yes, and it stays free. Enter your email and we send you a link to your Thoow account. There you download the installer, now and for every update.
Which DAWs and systems?
VST3 and AU instrument on a Mac with macOS 11 or newer, Apple Silicon and Intel. It runs in Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Bitwig, Reaper, Cubase, FL Studio and every other host for VST3 or AU.
What about Windows?

How do I install it?
Open the installer and follow it. Then rescan your plug-ins, in Ableton Live under Settings → Plug-Ins. Shapes appears under Thoow as an instrument.
Is this Plaits?
24 of the 27 models come from the open-source Plaits engine by Emilie Gillet (MIT license). The three bass models, the quantizer, polyphony, display and presets are our own. Shapes is not a product of Mutable Instruments.
How much CPU does it use?
Little. Eight voices take about one percent of one CPU core in our tests.
